Gay bashed = hate crime?

First let's be clear this is an awful thing. No one should have to go through what Adam has. No one.
What happened? Adam isn't very sure -- he was obviously out of it when officer Fife, I mean Erskine, gave him the 3rd degree as he lay bleeding, broken and concussed.
Was Adam run over? To break a leg in three places and crush an ankle would take quite a bit of force.
Were there other people in the parking lot? Adam says so in the article but claims that he doesn't remember leaving the bar. Did they just stand by and watch? Where were they when the cops arrived?
Adam says he was at Main Street, others insist he was at Cleopatra's or was he bar hopping?
It is reported that $50 is missing from his wallet -- what, they took the money and returned his wallet?
Did the cops search the area for his iPhone? If he was texting or talking and was run down the phone would have gone flying. If they didn't you can be sure it's gone now -- not many people would pass up an iPhone just lying there.
What happened to his date? The guy had already met Adam at his work so this was obviously a hook up. The real question is was this a set up? If they left the bar together -- they were hugging when the guys on the street made comments -- how come they weren't together in the parking lot?
There are just too many open questions. I do hope someone steps up and tells what they saw so people know whether they are safe at night in downtown Melbourne.
So what do you think?
